The government of Indonesia defines the aging population as people who are at the age of 60 years old and over. The number and percentage of aging population in West Sumatera increase year by year. As the result of increasing number and percentage of elderly, the population problems change. The new issue, that is becoming more important in the future, is the problems related to the aging population. One of them is health care of the elder. This article uses the sociology approach to understand the affect of these changes to elderly health care in contemporary  Minangkabau society.
